Depth of Field questions
1. Why is depth of field the opposite of blurry background?
DOF refers to the sharp part of an image while “blurry background” pictures are referring to the blurry part of the picture.2. What are the three elements that affect Depth of Field?
The three elements are the distance between the camera and your objects, the focal length of your camera, and the size of your aperture.
3. When looking at the images of the guitars, what do you observe and why is it happening?
The images are shortening in distance and the red guitar is becoming more sharp/background more blurry. This is happening because the F-stop is becoming smaller. The camera is also being backed up and the zoom is increasing.
4. When creating a portrait, in what way can shallow depth of field hinder the photo?
Shallow depth of field can eliminate the background of your photo. If the distance between the object you are focused on and the background of the photo is greater (10 feet), your background will be blurry. 5. Explain how foreground objects can be removed by shallow depth of field?
You can remove foreground objects by backing up a certain distance, not by pressing your camera up against it.
